The dreaded month of September is finally past us! As Joaquin turned into a category 3 over the southeast Bahamas this morning and we can be thankful we haven't had any serious storms this year. People in town are getting ready for Fantasy Fest and the influx of 50 to 100,000 tourists. Offshore fishing has been great this past week with a lot of nice sized dolphin hitting the docks. There have also been wahoo, tuna, sailfish, and a blue marlin caught this week. A lot of boats are getting what we call a "Key West Slam" (Dolphin, wahoo, and sailfish in the same trip) even on half days. The reef has also been consistent with yellowtail snappers, grey snappers, muttons, and grouper. A few guys I know have gone out to the gulf on days where it was rough out front and caught some nice permit, snapper, cobia and sharks. Fishing has been great and the weather has been decent. If you're heading down this fall give me a call to set up a trip!
